Primary Duties:


Incumbent is responsible for the field collection, disconnection, and/or securing of electric service applications under the following conditions: nonpayment or delinquency of payment in amounts owed, illegal wiring connections, no responsible parties, and return mail



Summary of duties:


Duties include, but are not limited to:


  1. Job Requirements:



    ·Experience demonstrating knowledge of all types of meter devices sufficient to perform meter readings and identify potential problems.

    ·Experience demonstrating skill performing basic arithmetic, i.e., adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.

    ·Experience demonstrating skills in reading, understanding, and following verbal and written instructions

    ·Effective oral and written communication skills in English sufficient to communicate with co-workers and customers.

    ·Experience demonstrating skill making decisions and exercising good judgment.

    ·Experience demonstrating basic PC skills sufficient to navigate and input data in a Windows-based environment.

    ·Hearing sufficient to obtain information over a portable and/or mobile radio.

    ·Ability to read maps and plan travel routes.

    ·Ability and willingness to wear and use safety equipment as required by Federal, State, Local and Pepco regulations (e.g., ear plugs, helmets, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves and sleeves, hard hat, fire retardant clothing).

    ·Ability and willingness to work on or around energized electrical equipment to disconnect live service.

    ·Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments including: all weather conditions, in confined spaces or enclosed vessels, in dark areas or areas with limited lighting, and in hot, foul water, mud and dirty environments.

    ·Ability and willingness to perform both indoor and outdoor tasks for extended periods of time (e.g.• climbing ladders, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pulling/pushing, standing, walking, and squatting).

    ·Ability and willingness to work independently with little or no supervision.

    ·Ability and willingness to work on holidays, weekends and overtime as required.

    ·Must possess a valid Driver's License.

    ·Ability and willingness to utilize personal vehicle to complete field calls throughout the metro DC and MD areas (must provide a valid certificate of automobile insurance in a format accepted by Pepco).



·Must successfully pass a Criminal Background Check. Preferred:

·Experience demonstrating skill disconnecting electric meters.

·Experience demonstrating skill in field collections.

·Experience demonstrating skill using CIS.
