This position leads PHI Underground Transmission Engineering team, based in Pepco’s Edison Place office in Washington, DC. The team consists of Lead Responsible Engineers (LRE), working on large-scale capital projects in all PHI regions; Area Maintenance Engineers (AME), responsible for Corrective & Preventative Maintenance programs for UG transmission system; Section Engineer(s) who provide technical oversight & support for LREs and AMEs, and financial control staff who support the team from project and cost management perspective.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
This job is responsible for managing, organizing, and controlling various engineering, project management, and reliability activities within designated function of accountability. This includes managing and insuring compliance and adherence to accepted standard engineering and design practices for public improvement, system reliability, and system capacity projects across the distribution system while managing and controlling the scope of work, maintaining focus on accuracy, and ensuring constructability at the least cost. This position may be required to work extended hours including 24x7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
POSITION SCOPE
Manages staff reporting directly or indirectly this position. Accountable for assigned budget as well as staffing, development, compensation, and related human resource needs of assigned employees. Ensures all plans are coordinated with all pertinent areas across the company. Determines the effect of various actions and policies on the reliability, economics and operability of the distribution systems. Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate outside contractors as required. Develop, manage and continuously evaluate outsourcing strategy that optimizes staffing and utilization of internal and external resources. This job has regular interaction with senior management, managers, and government officials to support distribution engineering and reliability practices.
