Responsible for managing  the bad debt budget.  forecasting,  variance analysis,  and overall health of accounts receivables.   Leads and manages the Accounts Receivable Loss Factor Reserve  Model and ensures adequate assessment of future risk alignment with  Finance and Accounting  Lead the risk identification efforts through the development and maintenance of risk management strategies  (including behavioral risk scoring) for Incorporation  Into credit and collection  operations    Develop appropriate risk management analysis,  trends and operating  performance KPls and metrics (Tier 1· Tier 4) to ensure  full and complete reporting of risk management,  financial reporting.  and operating performance to Accounting, Finance, Customer Operations, and senior executives

Recommend to Customer Operations leadership initiatives that will drive positive  changes in customer payment behavior with the overall objective of reducing Utility's and Exelon's Bad Debt expense.   Create an environment for the team to be an analytical "think tank" in terms of performing  deep dive analysis on potential  opportunity areas, reviewing information  and formulating potential  actionable  plans, and then performing  related follow-up  analysis and tracking  of progress

Establish plans and processes  to manage  new requests  for data and initiatives, ensure  rigor in attaining  business cases/charters for justification, ensure compliance with business  requirements, prioritize work based on business benefit, and meet the agreed upon scheduled  completion  dates

Create meaningful  metrics  of the effectiveness of the various  steps in the credit and collection  operations  processes  to improve  Utility' and Exelon's rate of return while strategically  balancing  the goal of eliminating bad debt and minimizing legal impact and adverse  impacts to company  (i.e.  regulatory  and customer impacts,  strain on resources,  service  level goals not being met, etc.)

Collaborates with Accounting, Finance, Supply  Chain, IT, other Exelon business  units, vendors,  external business partners,  and consultants  to continuously  mitigate uncollectible risk and improve credit and collection  performance.

Position may be required to work extended  hours, including  24 x 7 coverage  during storms  or other energy delivery emergencies.



Responsible for ensuring that credit & collection risks are properly identified, characterized, valued for a >$4 Billion total residential and commercial energy distribution portfolio. Produce daily, weekly and monthly indicators of risk of receivables for both operational execution and financial reporting.  30%

Accountable for coordination and validation of risk management strategies - including behavioral risk scoring - for purposes of loss forecasting. 10%

Support credit & collection practices through development of risk-based collection strategies, including proactive and active collections, termination work program and recovery actions. 20%

Prepare monthly and ad hoc reports for presentation of operating performance indicators, financial analysis and annual budget and latest estimate verification. 20%

Analyze customer, operating and financial data to provide organization management with advice and recommendations with regard to risk, opportunities and forecast of results with regards to uncollectible accounts (UA) expense. Support Regulatory and Financial Planning efforts with regard to estimation of risk due to changing regulatory revenue requirements. 10%

Support modeling of provision for bad debt reserve including the monthly estimate of reserve expense as well as forecasting and associated variance analysis.10%



This position is charged with the supporting organizational understanding  and consideration  of credit & collection risk associated with customer accounts receivables  and in developing strategies lo reduce and manage the Company's bad debt expense. Will serve as the data steward for integration of operational, financial and customer data that defines estimates and forecasting of uncollectible expense.  The position will help lo develop the Company's credit & collection risk strategy objectives through the review and validation  of risk management strategies and risk scoring protocols, including incorporation into credit & collection operations.  Will also support the development and monthly utilization of reserve methodology.   Responsible for preparation of monthly reporting and analysis with regard to past due accounts, credit & collection activities, financial risk and loss forecasting. Oversee the development  of monthly, annual and long-range  budgets for bad debt expense and use this capacity to support management reporting, business case analysis and implication of changes in regulatory and rates/revenue projections.


Qualifications - Internal


-BS/BA in a quantitative field (Finance, Accounting, Statistics) MBA, CFA or CPA is preferred

-At least 5 years of work experience In the areas of risk management, credit & collections, risk and/or financial forecasting or portfolio analysis experience

-Demonstrated experience in analyzing risk attributes of a large diverse retail portfolio of receivables

-Experience in managing or supporting credit & collection operations
