PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

We are looking for graduate students to join our Capacity Planning & Analytics group. Our group supports power grid planning and analysis and load forecasting for the distribution power grid. We also support projects to analyze and improve the integration of distributed energy resources such as solar, wind, battery storage, and electric vehicles into the distribution grid. We work with various datasets, such as time-series data, geospatial, weather data, and others. The Data Analytics intern will work closely with a small team of Sr Quantitative Engineers to support data quality efforts and perform data retrieval and data analysis.

Qualifications

Recommended Qualifications:

  • Applicants should be pursuing a Masters or PhD in a quantitative field such as computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Excellent data retrieval, processing and analysis skills and strong experience using SQL Server/T-SQL, Python, and Pandas
  • Experience with developing and applying machine learning algorithms to large datasets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills; and Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Current Student at an accredited college or university
  • Ability to consistently work under and meet tight deadlines and milestones
  • Ability and willingness to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours
  • Ability and willingness to work 20 hours per week.
