This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an PHI facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
This position is for an E04 manager role within the Protection & Control engineering team in the T&S organization. The successful candidate will lead a team of engineers that support three main work streams: capital projects (specs, drawing reviews, relay setting development, SCADA points list…), event analysis and compliance activities.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
T&S (Protection and Controls Engineering)
This position is the design authority providing design services to the T&S Engineering disciplines within the Company. Responsible for developing design documents using Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems.
Lead, manage and provide leadership for the personnel and the activities of the designers/drafters of the T&S Engineering organization within each Company. Ensure compliance and adherence to accepted standard engineering and design practices and drawing standards.
Develop, update, issue design drawings for transmission and substation activities. Maintain, create, and update CAD-based standards and specifications. Develop, update, and issue protective relay and communication diagrams. Incorporate vendor drawings into EED drawing system. Provide technical oversight to contracted engineering and design groups to ensure adherence to EED drawing standards.

JOB SCOPE
T&S (Protection and Controls Engineering)
Reports to the Manager / Director of Substation Engineering and is responsible for a staff of 8-13 direct reports consisting of 8-11 designers/drafters and 0-2 clerical support. (variation in total directs / mix based on Company requirements)
Design authority providing design services to the T&S Engineering disciplines within the Company.
Responsible for developing design documents using Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems.
Develop, update, and issue design drawings for new business, capacity expansion, reliability, obsolescence, and corrective maintenance activities.
Maintain, create, and update CAD-based standards and specifications.
Develop, update, and protective relay and communication diagrams.
Incorporate vendor drawings into EED drawing system.
Provide technical oversight to contracted engineering and design groups to ensure adherence to EED drawing standards.
Ensure compliance and adherence to accepted standard engineering and design practices and drawing standards.
Ensure that all designs meet the design basis for substation equipment and systems on the EED system.
Identify training requirements and ensure they are satisfied.
Responsible for performance measurements and design audits for all engineered plans.
Communicate, execute and supervise the process to ensure all work packages are properly prepared and appropriately scoped prior to construction issuance.
Responsible for executing collective bargaining agreements, implementing labor strategies, and negotiating elevated grievance hearings and arbitrations where Company applicable.
Responsible for the organization’s response to emergent activities, catastrophic events and storms.
Actions have direct impact on Exelon Energy Delivery (EED) safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction goals, the transmission revenue stream of EED, the generation revenue stream of Exelon, and the public, political, and regulatory opinion of EED.
Operates autonomously with wide latitude for un-reviewed actions and decisions. Establishes performance goals and expectations, coaches, mentors and provides feedback to direct reports.
Maintains effective internal business controls by conducting audits, self-assessments, investigations and employee reviews.
